And how curious that the art movements that set out to upset the status quo and, as often as not, stand conventional 'artistic values' on their head, eventually ended up becoming the new - albeit passing - 'status quo'. So all those "isms" that were revolutionary and reforming - the noisy, irreverent yells in the sanctury of High Art - wind up neatly defined and categorsied as just one more "ism"! Ironic!
